Attention to detail with Aleksandre Akhalkatsishvili

The brand's just-landed, sensual yet subversive collection is a masterclass in youthful tailoring

4th November, 2022

A lesson in contemporary tailoring, Aleksandre Akhalkatsishvili's trademark tonal shades and minimalist cuts with a masculine edge were made for now.  Elegant and sensual yet modern, the Georgian designer’s stand-out looks command cool and confidence in equal measure.

A graduate of Tbilisi State Academy of Arts, Aleksandre Akhalkatsishvili, also co-designs Georgian label Materiel – stocked on Fabric of Society. The two brands have sympathetically different aesthetics, allowing Akhalkatsishvili to effortlessly flex his design muscle and show huge breadth.

A collection of interchangeable separates, it's hard to choose between the brand's low-slung trousers – their hip-grazing waistband add a daring twist, whilst nodding to the exploding Y2K trend, and their vegan leather additions such as theatrical cut out blazers and panelled skirts. Choosing not to use any animal products in his designs, the labels specially created ‘vegan leather’ will fool even the most critical of eyes.

The collection is cut close to the body (we recommend buying a size up from your usual size) the pieces hugging the figure at each opportunity. Capturing perfectly the gen-z take on tailoring, details such as structured neck ties, cut-out panels and draping belt ties make Aleksandre Akhalkatsishvili the perfect go-to for social-media ready event dressing.
