The Quiet Power of Getting Dressed: Inside LE17SEPTEMBRE’s AW26 Collection

LE17SEPTEMBRE founder and designer Eunhye Shin discusses the Seoul label’s AW26 collection, design philosophy, signature outerwear and quiet approach to luxury.

There is something to be said for clothes that do not demand attention, but quietly command it. Founded by designer Eunhye Shin in Seoul in 2013, LE17SEPTEMBRE has made an art form of precisely this kind of dressing: refined silhouettes, exacting proportions and unexpected details, all without making too much noise about it.

For Autumn/Winter 2026, that philosophy takes shape in MUJO; The Present of Beginning, a collection exploring the present as something continually reshaped through change. Cashmere and wool, sculptural outerwear, softly draped knitwear and fluid skirts form a wardrobe that feels luxurious but, crucially, eminently wearable.

As the new season calls for a more considered approach to getting dressed, we caught up with founder and designer Eunhye Shin to discuss the thinking behind AW26, the piece to know now and the quiet confidence at the heart of LE17SEPTEMBRE.

For anyone discovering LE17SEPTEMBRE for the first time, how would you describe the brand?

Eunhye Shin: LE17SEPTEMBRE is a contemporary womenswear brand built around refined silhouettes and understated design, creating pieces that are meant to be worn and appreciated for years.

Our name, which translates to 17 September in French, comes from my birthday and reflects something personal at the heart of the brand.

Rather than following trends, we focus on exceptional materials, balanced proportions and a quiet yet distinctive aesthetic. We believe true longevity comes from thoughtful design and timeless craftsmanship.

AW26 is centred around MUJO; The Present of Beginning. What was the starting point for the collection?

Eunhye Shin: The Fall/Winter 2026 collection is built around the theme “MUJO; The Present of Beginning,” exploring the idea of embracing the present as something constantly reshaped through change.

Guided by the message, “We break, we mend, and become stronger,” the collection returns to the essence of clothing, reinterpreting pure forms of dress through a modernist perspective.

Rich seasonal fabrics, including cashmere and wool, create warmth and depth, while structured outerwear is balanced with softly draped knitwear and fluid skirts.

Throughout the collection, we focused on the dialogue between texture and silhouette, allowing each element to complement the other. A calm, muted palette ties the collection together, creating a wardrobe designed with versatility, longevity and enduring quality in mind.

Which piece best captures where LE17SEPTEMBRE is today?

Eunhye Shin: We would highlight the Cowl Neck Handmade Half Coat as a defining piece of the collection.

It reflects one of LE17SEPTEMBRE’s greatest strengths: creating outerwear that feels quietly distinctive.

Its clean silhouette is elevated by a softly sculpted cowl neckline and a relaxed, effortless shape. The warm camel tone and rich handmade texture come together to express the understated elegance that defines the brand — restrained in design, yet unmistakably memorable when worn.

What do you hope women feel when they put on a piece of LE17SEPTEMBRE?

Eunhye Shin: We hope women feel both comfortable and composed. Rather than overpowering the wearer, our clothing is designed to complement her personality and allow her own sense of style to emerge naturally.

We want our pieces to inspire quiet confidence, making women feel effortlessly put together without feeling overstyled.

Ultimately, our goal is to create garments that women return to again and again, not just for a single season, but for years to come.

Your flagship brings the world of LE17SEPTEMBRE into a physical space. What did you want the store to convey?

Eunhye Shin: The flagship store extends the refined sensibility and structural aesthetics that LE17SEPTEMBRE has pursued into a physical space.

Designed to go beyond a simple sales space and serve as an archive where visitors can experience the time and sensibilities accumulated by the brand, it embodies LE17SEPTEMBRE’s signature quiet and considered atmosphere through a restrained spatial composition and the beauty of negative space.

Based around a white palette, the space expresses the beauty of restraint and negative space through solid wood, reclaimed wood and stone, while brass cast works created in collaboration with metal craft artist Kim Dong-hae are showcased as objects, adding a unique character to the space.
