Shopping a sale can feel overwhelming and so wespoke with four trusted style experts from the Fabric of Society team to discovertheir tips and tricks to ensure every sale buy is a winner.

Cat Macleod, Head of Buying

I’m a shrewd shopper, what fashion buyer isn’t? I don’t lose my cool just because it’s sale season. By the time sales hit I will have already culminated a list of trends, brands and looks I want to shop if and when they go into sale. Don’t judge! This is my idea of a great time! I also like to shop in full looks as much as possible – that way you get to capture the designer’s ultimate vibe, and avoid ending up with a piece that doesn’t go with anything and just sits unworn in your existing wardrobe. That would be a terrible investment!

Poppy Zhang, Buying Assistant

My sale shopping approach is tactical, I try not to go mad but I also like to have fun. I’ll look for stand out items that I might not be able to justify at full price, whether that’s because it’s a trend driven item that I’d only wear a few times (and feel WOW in) or because my budget didn’t allow for it originally. My one rule though is it has to be exciting! An embroidered dress that’ll spark conversation at an event? Tick. Fabulous sculptural shoes that are anything but boring? Sign me up.

Raheel Al Roudhan, Founder and CEO

As Fabric of Society founder, even I get excited about our sale! I always have my eye on a few pieces I didn’t get to shop for one reason or another, so I head straight to my wish list, hoping that those items are now on sale. Usually, I haven’t bought them because I already own something similar and can’t justify the spend. However, sales are actually the perfect time to review what you’ve relied on in your closet over the past few months, learn from it and lean into that trend. It’s the secret to building a capsule wardrobe of clothes you truly want to wear again and again.

Abisola Alaka, Social Media Manager

Oh, sale season, we meet again. I promise this time to not get carried away… is precisely what I say each season. But I cannot help it, I love shopping sales. I love fashion and I’m unapologetic in the joy it brings me! Which brings me to what I seek out… joyful items! I am a magnet to stand out details, bold colour and print. I strategically turn to sale season for gowns that’ll be perfect for future weddings I’ve not been invited to (yet) and tops that’ll transform my look on a night out that could be 6 months down the line. The one rule is that it needs to make me smile!
