Abadia’s Eternal Allure
17th March, 2025

From day one part of our ethos at Fabric of Society has been to shine a light on talent not just from fashion’s most well-known cities, but from the growing fashion industry in the GCC too. And whilst the allure of Italian-made handbags isn't going anywhere, there’s no denying the plethora of talent in the middle east. And with that, step forwards Abadia. Instantly one of our best selling brands on Fabric of Society, the ethical luxury label was founded in Saudi Arabia and instantly won the hearts of women across the middle east and beyond.
A fusion of contemporary elegance and preserved culture and heritage, Abadia is derived from the Arabic words for desert (badiah) and timelessness (Abadi). Its popularity seems far from waning, with the brand helping to put Saudi style firmly on the map. "Obviously all the brands that we have on FoS excite me but the arrival of Abadia is a real moment for us. It's a home grown brand from the GCC and I feel it connects with our customer in a different way", explains Catriona Macleod, Head of Buying at Fabric of Society – and naturally one of the brand’s biggest fans.
What makes Abadia stand out even more is their commitment to ethical fashion. Designs are crafted in luxury deadstock materials and are fully traceable. Offcuts are transformed into beautiful and unique accessories. Those who make the design (which happens either in house in Saudi Arabia, or in the UAE) are paid fairly and firmly part of the Abadia family. The result is beautiful clothing you appreciate even more for knowing there’s a limited quantity produced and with traceability and transparency.
What is apparent with any Abadia design is that it whispers taste and elegance, rather than shouting. "An Abadia design is one that reveals itself over time”, says Catriona. “There's an intricacy that continues to surprise me each time I look at a piece. First you're amazed by the fabric and its quality, then the beautiful silhouette, then the exquisite details such as pleats or folds. That's why I think anything from Abadia is such a natural investment item you'll love for years to come".
The collection arriving on Fabric of Society is a wearable mix of stop-you-in-your-tracks gowns, perfectly concocted for Ramadan, to contemporary office ready separates such as crisp white shirts and structured midi skirts. Each proudly carrying the trademark Abadia details and craftsmanship. “It's hard for me to choose a favourite from the collection we have”, says Catriona, ever the diplomat, “but… if I HAD to, I'd select two pieces that are quite different. Firstly the Brown Layan Pleated Maxi Skirt is a firm favourite in my wardrobe. It feels super modern with its weight block pleats and looks as great with a t-shirt as it does a crisp white shirt. Is it an essential? I'd go as far as saying it is! Secondly, I dream of a glamorous life where I can glide into events wearing the Blue Suri Maxi Dress. It's a thing of beauty and would work perfectly for a wedding, Ramadan or a really special event."
