New York! New York!

Fashion Week in the city that never sleeps, always promises to deliver on street style trends. Discover our favourites looks

25 September ‘22

As the first of the big four Fashion Weeks, New York always guarantees a fashion feast of new trends and on point street style waiting to be devoured. Here’s our pick of the best trends to wear now:

Statement Coats

The weather gods shined down on New York City this season but it didn’t stop guests layering up with coats and jackets that spoke volumes.

From shimmering metallic numbers to colour block pastel shapes – outerwear played an integral part.

Perfect for putting to practice now, choose styles in vibrant colours and tactile textures such as faux leather and corduroy and cut out shapes that create unexpected silhouettes and flashes of colour from layers that sit beneath it.

Cargo Pants

Nostalgic, flattering, relaxed; what’s not to love about the cargo pants’ unmissable revival, most recently confirmed at New York Fashion Week?

Once only the uniform of off-duty models, the cargo pant is fully prepped for the front row now, cut in lux fabrics and bold and billowy silhouettes.

The only 90s era prerequisite that remains is how you wear them – super low slung on the waist in a perfect ‘never too tight’ fit.

Team Sports

Whilst there will always be a place for towering heels, sportswear vibes rippled across the city this Fashion Week.

From sneakers – bright white, chunky and high tops were all present, to oversize hoodies and trackpants – we witnessed a cool and casual approach to dressing for the shows.

Playing with proportions is key, so look to pair a unisex style hoodie or jacket with more body skimming separates, or sporty kicks with tailoring and lux textures for contrast

The Classics

New York’s street style moments felt more authentic this season, with editors and stylists dressing to consider comfort and perhaps – as we move to a more sustainably-conscious mindset – the longevity of an item, too.

Modern suiting in easy to wear, relaxed shapes was celebrated across the front row, whilst timeless shades of camel, black and white showed that even the most classic of shades can feel contemporary in the right fabric and with the right details.

A quick route to effortless winter dressing that’ll last the seasons, look to matching knitwear separates or their tailored counterparts in muted shades.
