Soft Power: The Art of Spring Tailoring

This season spring tailoring retains power and poise, rather than simply commanding it. Here’s your guide to mastering the looks.

12th April, 2026

Spring tailoring arrives with a softened perspective this season, where structure meets ease, and polish is redefined through fluidity rather than formality. The sharp, corporate edge of traditional suiting gives way to a welcomed vibe that feels intuitive, light, and quietly confident.

At the heart of this shift is colour. Spring’s palette leans into soft, diffused tones – think powder blue, buttercream, blush, and muted sage. These shades bring a sense of calm sophistication to tailoring. And, whilst there will always be a place in our closets for classic navy and black, now is the time to try new things. Worn head-to-toe or styled as separates, SS26 tailoring creates a tonal harmony that feels modern yet timeless.

Silhouette plays an equally important role this season. Oversized tailoring remains, but with a refined sensibility. Shoulders are softened, lines are elongated, and proportions feel intentional rather than exaggerated. Blazers drape rather than dominate, often cinched lightly at the waist –  perfectly illustrated at The Loom Atelier – or left open for a relaxed effect. Trousers follow suit where wide-leg cuts skim the body, while high waists elongate the frame without feeling restrictive.

The return of the midi skirt signals a pivotal moment in spring tailoring. Once considered a classic staple, it re-emerges with renewed relevance, styled in ways that feel fresh and directional. Tailored midi skirts, whether in clean A-line shapes from Voranida and Samuel Gui Yang, or softly pleated forms from Simkhai and Róhe, offer versatility that transitions seamlessly from day to evening. Paired with a matching blazer, they create a modern suit alternative.

One rule to abide by? Styling remains effortless. Minimalism wins here so opt for a single statement piece and balance with refined basics from Sporty and Rich or ROTATE Birger Christensen. Our team is currently rotating a work wardrobe of softly structured blazers worn over a silk camisole, midi skirts paired with barely-there sandals, and tonal suits offset by delicate gold jewellery.
