Subtlety is Key
26th June, 2024
Founded by Jang Le and Nhat Viet, Subtle Le Nguyen is well regarded for its impeccably designed yet functional garments that draw inspiration from its founder’s Vietnamese heritage. Fusing old and new, the designs are advanced and adapted through the use of modern, experimental technique. The result is thoroughly modern and considered.
Subtle Le Nguyen has only been around since 2015, which makes it young in fashion brand terms yet its rise in popularity keeps on getting stronger, especially with those picky fashion insiders. 'I like being ahead of the curve and Subtle Le Nguyen is one of those IYKYK brands. They're a growing label but each piece still feels unique whilst retaining subtlety', reveals Poppy Zhang, Fabric of Society’s buying assistant.
This season the collection has wearability at its heart. The brand’s trademark muted colours meet with warm-weather friendly fabrics, like linen and cotton, which are then crafted into gently sculptural and billowing skirts, shirts and pants. "I plan to live in their white palazzo pants this season”, explains Poppy. “I snapped them up as soon as they landed on site. I can confirm they are just as perfect with a heel as city flats and the tie side waist line is incredibly flattering too”.
You could be forgiven for thinking the label is a resort brand only, their designs for the summer season so perfect. But, oh no, with their A/W24 collection coming to FoS soon we can confirm they have perfected year-round dressing. But for now, we’ll happily be pairing their summer season essentials – from cropped linen shirts to finely-knitted tank tops – with the settings they deserve. Tropical island, anyone?
