The New Season Denim Guide

The mainstay of any great wardrobe, from classic jeans with a twist to retro-influenced skirts, here’s how to approach SS23’s most stylish denim pieces.

22nd February '23

Denim gets a serious upgrade this season, becoming the focus point of a perfectly put together outfit. And whilst everyone loves a trusted pair of jeans – and rightly so, the shift is to more expressive pieces – statement cargo pants, masculine Bermuda shorts and a whole host of skirts, some with not-so-subtle Y2K influences.

The Cargo Pant

Fabric of Society’s favourite brands are keeping our cargo pant addiction firmly in check, with this newest pair from Kimhekim being our current go-to. Fusing super-soft denim with 90s and Y2K influences, the cargo pant is here to stay.

We love how they work just as well with over-sized sneakers – think Rombaut’s new Boccaccio II Future low tops, as they do with statement heels (have you seen Wandler’s directional mules? Dreamy). Look for pairs with wide leg cuts, which are flattering and versatile. If you’re a die-hard straight let jeans fan, then turn to Eytys, who have crafted two exceptional pairs – one classic wash, the other a statement marble dye finish.

Keep it Short

The city short has been transformed for the season, in soft yet structured denim, and we’re here for it. Grazing the knee for a flattering cut, these Kimhekim (again!) pair are perfection. With shape-skimming darts at the waist and button details they feel just the right side of smart. Modern and relaxed yet elevated enough for the perfect dinner outfit.

Denim skirts have become a focus for some of our favourite designers too, showcased by shining brand, Feng Chen Wang. Look to the label for reconstructed miniskirts and asymmetric cuts with the FCW’s signature graphic prints.
