The sight of a Magda Butrym piece brings instant energy to a room. The brand’s signature swirling rose design, dramatic silhouettes and bold colours light up any event and whoever is wearing it. As the new SS25 collection arrives on Fabric of Society, we spoke with the label’s namesake founder and creative director, Magda Butrym, to discover more about what makes the brand so hot.

FoS: Please can you tell us more about the Magda Butrym woman and what makes her so unique?

Magda Butrym: She is her own muse. She’s powerful yet delicate, sensual yet sophisticated. There’s an effortless allure to the way she dresses – never overly styled but always impactful. She understands craftsmanship and values details that set her apart. She doesn’t just follow trends; she shapes them, creating a style narrative that is entirely her own.

FoS: It's clear that the Magda girl really comes to live in your designs, what excites you most about designing for your customers?

Magda Butrym: I love that they embrace individuality. They are not afraid to experiment, to mix masculine with feminine, classic with unexpected. It’s the kind of confidence that I want to empower through my designs – giving women pieces that let them express who they are without limits.

FoS: We're so excited to see your latest collection, please can you tell us more about your SS25 pieces?

Magda Butrym: The Gossamer collection is a play on contrasts – structured yet fluid, sensual yet effortless. Light, airy fabrics like sheer silks and intricate crochet create a feeling of weightlessness, balanced by strong tailoring and utilitarian touches. Inspired by the Slavic notion of gossamer – the fleeting beauty of late summer – it embodies a modern, confident femininity. Presenting it in Paris to a much wider audience of talents, tastemakers, and global media was a defining moment for the brand, marking the beginning of its next decade.

FoS: We're always interest in how designers start to gather inspiration. Is there a place you visit to immerse yourself before designing a new collection?

Magda Butrym: I find inspiration everywhere – from Polish Slavic heritage to modern architecture, vintage archives, and the way women move through the world. But I always return to craftsmanship. Working closely with Polish artisans, I preserve intricate crochet, embroidery, and tailoring traditions. Lately, I’ve also been reflecting on the brand’s journey, exploring our archives to refine and evolve my design language – a dialogue between heritage and modern femininity.

FoS: We want every single item, but please can you pick a favourite design from the SS25 collection?

Magda Butrym: Oh no – don’t make me do this! It’s impossible to choose just one. Each piece is designed with love and intention, meant to evolve with the woman wearing it. What excites me most is seeing how different women style them in their own way, bringing them to life with confidence and personality.

FoS: it's clear that your brand connects well with trends and aesthetics in the Middle East, what excites you most about style in the region?

Magda Butrym: Middle Eastern women have an incredible eye for fashion and an unshakable confidence. They know what they want, appreciate true craftsmanship, and wear pieces with intention. It’s not just about luxury – it’s about making a statement with elegance and strength, which aligns so well with my brand’s philosophy.

FoS: Which pieces or styles are resonating best with your customers in the Middle East?

Magda Butrym: Eveningwear has always been at the heart of what I do – there’s something magical about dressing up for the night, feeling powerful, beautiful, and completely yourself. That sentiment resonates deeply with women in the Middle East, where statement eveningwear is not just appreciated but embraced. Flowing silhouettes, intricate draping, and couture-level craftsmanship make these pieces feel truly special.

Beyond dresses, there’s a strong love for structured tailoring – sharp blazers, cinched waists, and fluid trousers that bring strength and femininity together. Accessories also play a key role – sculptural headscarves, signature handbags, and bold heels elevate a look and add a personal touch. It’s all about confidence, presence, and a sense of occasion, whether for day or night.

FoS: As the brains and creativity behind such a successful label, do you have any style tips for wearing and styling Magda Butrym?

Magda Butrym: Less is more. I always suggest balancing contrasts – pair a bold-shouldered blazer with a soft silk slip dress, or a romantic crochet piece with structured tailoring. Accessories are key; a statement bag or a headscarf can completely transform a look. Most importantly, wear everything with confidence – when you feel good, it shows.
